Chrome Molly at the Rijnhal, Arnhem, The Netherlands, 5th of May 1988.
Chrome Molly are an English hard rock band from Leicester originally formed in 1982. After a couple of line-up changes and some releases on small independent labels, the band is finally picked up by IRS records which was run by Miles Copeland III, brother of Police drummer Stewart Copeland and manager of his brother’s band (the Police). Chrome Molly was now endorsed with a bigger recording and promotion budget. Their third album “Angst” saw the light and contained a cover of Squeeze's "Take Me I'm Yours". Expanded with second guitarist Andrew Barrott (ex-Baby Tuckoo) the band toured as support act with Alice Cooper on his “Raise Your Fist and Yell” tour. Chrome Molly’s live performance was quite remarkable, entertaining, and hilarious at the same time because vocalist Steve Hawkins developed a kind of fetish by placing a cordless microphone down his tight cycling shorts. The crowd enjoyed these pranks and was warmed-up for what was coming next.
