Tokyo Blade at Paradiso, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 27th of January 1985.
After playing under a lot of different names like White Diamond, Killer and Genghis Khan. This Salisbury outfit, who were an essential part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) movement, finally decided on Tokyo Blade as their stage name. After a couple of line-up changes the band recorded their second album “Night of the Blade” with new vocalist/frontman Vick Wright, they immediately hit the road to promote their brand-new release. After a long, lonely journey, I ended up at the Paradiso for the umpteenth time. Unfortunately, Tokyo Blade began their set quite late (21.45H), which forced me to consider my return trip by train to Zutphen. Due to the unfortunate timings, I did a quick photoshoot while at the same time, watching (review) the performance including the audience reactions. This multitasking can sometimes be a pain if you are continuously in a rush. Anyway, I liked the show and wished I could have stayed a little longer.
