Laaz Rockit at Dynamo Open Air 1988, Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
Due to the great success and the increasing crowds of the freely accessible D.O.A editions, which normally took place on a parking lot in the center of Eindhoven, the organization had to look for another location. The artificial ice rink on the edge of the city was a suitable solution and only a symbolic amount of FL 1,- (E 0,50) was required to gain access to the festival. The rest of the organizational costs were covered by the proceeds from the sale of beer. The formation Lȧȧz Rockit from San Francisco (California) was also on the bill and showed with the release of "Know Your Enemy" a more thrash metal direction to their group sound than their previous albums, which were more Metal oriented. Through extensive tours in the club circuit and as support band to Motörhead, the band built up a rock-solid live reputation in Europe and Japan. Bassist-with-Dutch-roots Willy Langenhuizen stood out with his active stage performance, and that did not go unnoticed, and because of this, for a long time it was rumored that Metallica had approached him to fill Cliff Burton's place. Lȧȧz Rockit was a welcome guest in the Dutch club circuit and wherever they played... they blew the roof off. Also here on this edition of Dynamo Open Air, the band was in top form and singer Michael Coons was in great shape. This successful performance was captured on video and was added years later as a bonus DVD to their “Annihilation Principle” album.
