Sanctuary at Aardschokdag, IJsselhal, Zwolle, The Netherlands – 29th of May 1988.
In front of more than six thousand people from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, Sanctuary from Seattle Washington, a band discovered and produced by Megadeth's Dave Mustaine, presented their debut album “Refuge Denied” to the public. The band sells rock solid melodies that are carried by heavy riffs, strong arrangements and of course, the striking high pitch vocals of lead singer Warrel Dane. Sanctaury won the Aardschokdag crowd over in mere seconds, but it was a pity that they didn’t play the Jefferson Airplane cover “White Rabbit” with Dave Mustaine, who was also present that day. That certainly would have been the highlight of the Festival.
