Horizon at Earthquake Festival 1985, De Kegelaar, Kaatsheuvel, The Netherlands, 23rd of March 1985
Horizon is a hard rock band formed around singer Shmoulik Avigal (ex-Hammerhead, ex-Picture) and guitarist Jack Nobelen. In October 1983 music publishers Warner Brothers, gave the band the opportunity to record a demo. It was very well received by both radio and press. This resulted in a performance at the Aardschokdag in the IJsselhal in Zwolle for 4000 people in February 1984. In mid-October of that same year they recorded their debut album at the M.M.P. studios in Waalwijk, which was offered as a ready-made product to various record companies. In the end, CBS took the bait, and in early 1985 they released their album “Master Of The Game”. The single “Need your love”, which came from this album, had a lot of radio potential and clearly indicated the direction of the band. A perfect mix between their heavier work, in combination with strong “catchy” melodies. The performance in the Kegelaar was an eye-opener, and the band left a very good impression behind them with both the audience, and the record company. Live on stage, the band was further reinforced by keyboard player Giovanni Pileri.
