Shy at IJsselhal, Zwolle, The Netherlands on April 4th, 1987.
“Excess All Areas” by melodic Hard Rock band Shy from Birmingham (UK) is still one of the undiscovered gems in its genre. Recorded in the Netherlands at Soundpush (Blaricum), under the wings of top-notch producer Neil Kernon (Dokken, Queensrÿche and Scorpions etc.), it featured the bands biggest hit “Breakdown the Walls” which was co-written by Don Dokken. The video was played at that time on high rotation on MTV and the Sky Channel. After lots of media exposure, Shy toured as support act on Gary Moore’s “Wild Frontier” tour to promote their latest release. During arranged photo sessions, you hope as a photographer that something will turn out differently and unique. Vocalist Tony Mills triggered something like that during this shoot, where chaos and anarchy broke loose. And of course, I took my chances and had great fun with this top bunch of guys.
