Torch at Paradiso, Amsterdam, The Netherlands – 14th of October 1984
During the 80’s Scandinavia was also a breeding ground for some good heavy metal. The Swedish band Torch coming from Eskilstuna (Södermanland) had brought out two solid records, “Fire Raiser EP (1982)” and the self-titled “Torch (1983)”. With those two excellent records in their back pocket, the band had the possibility to tour Europe and the opportunity to play at the famous Paradiso in Amsterdam. During that gig, a fantastic feeling was ignited and when the time came, the band was up for their encores. After the last song, something happened which I’d never seen before at that venue!!!! The outrageous crowd entered the stage, blocked the stage door to the dressing room, and forced the band to stay. Guitarist Chris J First was almost pulled-off stage to be kept hostage by the fans. And the only option Torch had was to play. And they did ….. These pictures don’t lie.
