The release of their debut album “Harder Than You” in December 1988 created a shockwave in the music scene. The bands eclectic mix of different genres; like hardcore punk, funk, jazz, hip-hop, reggae and heavy metal, did not go unnoticed by the audience. Due to extensive touring a dedicated following was established. Their follow-up album “Gumbo Millennium” explored new musical territories and showcased the band's progress. During the interview, with guitarist Jimi Hazel and bass player Rick Skatore, I wanted to know where the song “John Connelly's Theory” came from. Jimi responded: “When we were on tour with John's band Nuclear Assault in the States, he played every night a certain guitar riff during the sound-check. It was so powerful….that we decided to sample that riff and build a song around it. And of course we gave John plenty of credit by naming the song after him”.
